Description
Group visits to CSUSB offer students the opportunity to explore campus, hear directly from current students, and picture themselves as future Coyotes. Designed specifically for schools and community organizations bringing students to campus, this experience is structured, engaging, and easy to plan.
Please Note: Group tours are reserved for school or organization visits bringing students in grades 9 and above. These visits are intended for groups arriving together (typically by bus or coordinated transportation) with designated chaperones. Families or individual visitors should register for an In- Person Tour instead. If a family books a group tour in error, our office will contact you to reschedule into the appropriate visit option.
What to Expect
- Coyote Ambassador Welcome (15 minutes)
- Your visit kicks off with a live welcome led by our Coyote Ambassadors. Students will hear directly from current CSUSB students who share their college stories, answer questions, and talk about what life is really like on campus. It’s an authentic and engaging way to start the visit and help your students connect right away.
- Guided Campus Tour (led by our ambassadors)
- After the welcome, your group will begin a guided walking tour. The tour highlights key locations across campus such as academic buildings, student life spaces, and dining areas, giving students a real sense of the college environment.
CSUSB has been ranked 3rd in the nation for social mobility by the Wall Street Journal. Our students come from all backgrounds and go on to achieve incredible things. A campus visit is often the first step in showing them that college is possible, and that CSUSB is a place where they can succeed.

Upcoming Dates And Times
Questions & Answers
- What if I try to book a tour and there are no dates?
We’re excited to welcome students to campus! If you click the booking link and do not see any available dates or times, it means that all current tour slots are fully booked. We encourage you to email our tours office at adriana.lopez@csusb.edu & tours@csusb.edu to be added to our waitlist. If space becomes available, our team will reach out to you.
- What happens if we arrive late?
We understand that travel delays happen. If your group is running late, please contact us as soon as possible so we can adjust as best we can. We’ve built a short buffer between group visits, but please note that a late arrival may shorten or skip the welcome session with our Coyote Ambassadors if another group is scheduled right after yours. We’ll do everything we can to ensure your students still have a great visit.
- What is the maximum number of students allowed per group?
We can accommodate up to 60 students per time slot. If you have more than 60 students, you're welcome to book additional time slots to bring your full group.
- What is the required chaperone-to-student ratio?
To ensure the visit runs smoothly, we require one adult chaperone for every 10 students. During the self-guided tour, we recommend that chaperones lead students in small groups of 10 and choose a central location to meet at the end of the visit before heading back to your bus. A great spot to gather is at the CSUSB Spirit Letters. It’s perfect for a group photo, and if you share it on social media, we encourage you to use the hashtag #VisitCSUSB so we can see and share your experience.
- Can we include students below 9th grade?
Our group tours are designed for students in 9th grade and above, as our office focuses on high school and college-aged visitors. If you’re looking for a tour for younger students, our friends at the Office of Pre-College Programs offer visits tailored for 8th grade and below. We’d be happy to connect you with them to help arrange a visit!
- How far in advance should we book the tour?
To help secure your preferred date, we recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Our tours fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible!
- Is there a cost associated with the visit?
Nope! Our group visits are completely free!
- What if our group size changes after we book?
No problem! Just let us know as soon as possible so we can make any necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth visit. Please keep in mind that we can accommodate up to 60 students per group.
- Can we customize the visit or request something specific for our group?
Our visit format includes a 15-minute welcome followed by a self-guided campus tour. If you’re hoping to include something additional, feel free to let us know when booking and we’ll do our best depending on availability and staffing.
- Is transportation provided or reimbursed by the university?
While we don’t offer transportation or reimbursements, we’re happy to provide directions and parking details to make your visit as smooth as possible! Let us know if you need any assistance.
- Where should we park, and is there a fee for parking?
Great news—buses can park on campus for free! We’ll include detailed parking instructions for your bus drivers in your confirmation email. If you’re arriving by car, parking fees may apply, but don’t worry—we’ll provide all the details to make parking easy. Let us know if you have any questions!
- How long should we plan to be on campus for our group visit?
Your visit will include a 15-minute welcome with our Coyote Ambassadors, followed by a self-guided walking tour led by your chaperones. Most groups spend about 60 minutes on campus in total, but timing is flexible.
- What areas of campus will we explore during our visit?
Your self-guided tour map will highlight key areas across campus, including student life spaces, academic buildings, and popular gathering spots. The great thing about this format is the flexibility to explore what your students are most interested in. Whether that’s checking out art studios, walking through athletics and recreation spaces, visiting one of our museums, or even stopping by our student-run radio station, there’s something for everyone to discover along the way.
- Are meals or dining options available for purchase on campus?
Absolutely! You're welcome to grab a bite at Coyote Commons or explore our other dining spots on campus. There's something for everyone to enjoy!
- Can students bring their lunches, and are there designated areas for eating?
Of course! Students are welcome to bring their lunches, and we'll be happy to help you find a great spot on campus to enjoy them.
- Are there accommodations for students or chaperones with mobility needs?
Yes! We want everyone to have a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements. To ensure we can best accommodate your needs, please email jgonzalez-montelongo@csusb.edu at least 2-3 weeks before your visit. We’re happy to help!
- Can we stay on campus after the tour to explore on our own?
Absolutely! We encourage you to take your time, explore and soak in the campus atmosphere. Enjoy your visit!
- Will students receive any materials, swag, or souvenirs during the visit?
While we don’t provide swag during group visits, students are encouraged to explore campus and pick up helpful information from areas like our student union or affinity centers. We also offer online tools and resources they can use after the visit to stay connected with CSUSB.
- Who can we contact if we have follow-up questions after our visit?
We’re here to help! You can reach out to our team anytime at tours@csusb.edu. We'd love to hear from you!
- Can we visit the Bookstore or grab snacks after the tour?
Yes. After your self-guided tour, your group is welcome to visit the Coyote Bookstore or grab food on campus. Just let us know if you plan to do this so we can help with timing.
- Is the self-guided tour appropriate for first-time visitors?
Yes. Our self-guided map is designed to help students and chaperones experience CSUSB in an easy and meaningful way. Our team will go over the map before your group begins the tour and is available to answer questions along the way.
